Sidekicks Saloon-Prescott Valley
Sidekicks is one of a very few country night clubs in Prescott/Prescott Valley that are open to the general public. Most
dance places are fraternal or civic organizations with membership requirements.
We go to Sidekicks quite often to get our dancing "fix" and the band last night , "Mystery Train", was very good- real country! We were there with a group of friends and had a good time dancing but this venue is far from ideal. For starters, it is a converted warehouse with a bare concrete floor; one entire wall is a roll-up garage door with no decor whatsoever to cover it. One bonus, though, is that they leave it part-way up for ventilation when it is hot inside.
The dance floor is barely larger than the bandstand- it's a triangle-shape and never has enough room for even a modest crowd. The venue is cut in half with a second U-shaped bar that makes the space between it and the entrance practically useless- that space has a few tables and a pool table. If they got rid of that bar and arranged seating around the edges, they could triple the size of the dance floor without losing ANY table space. Besides being bare, hard concrete, the floor is very sticky, especially on the garage door side. [update 1/26/18] They rearranged the tables, making the dance floor twice as big! Also added a large poster over the garage door. This is a big step in the right direction.
Long story short- you have to REALLY want to dance to go to
Sidekicks and you're definitely going just for the music!
